Emma Burton MCLIEx
I joined the Corporate and Commercial team as a Paralegal in July 2022.
I assist on various matters within the team, including mergers and acquisitions (acting for both buyers and sellers), company formations, company restructures, drafting of commercial agreements, NDA’s and ancillary documentation and carrying out legal research.
I work closely with other departments to ensure any transaction runs smoothly and the right expertise is used throughout. I have specialist knowledge surrounding lettings agents and hospitality businesses.
I graduated from university in 2013, with a degree in law. In 2021, I became an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) and started studying to become a Chartered Legal Executive.
Prior to joining Clarke and Son, I worked in a litigation team dealing with clinical negligence and personal injury cases. I have worked on behalf of both the claimant and defendant. Previously, I also worked in-house for a large defence company, dealing with corporate and commercial matters including mergers and acquisitions, the drafting of NDA’s, anti-bribery and corruption and GDPR issues both in the UK and internationally.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, taking part in charity events to raise money for JDRF UK, watching football and travelling to new places. It has been said that I have an unhealthy obsession with Turkey or anything Turkish and try to visit the country at least twice a year. Since covid, I have been learning Turkish over Skype with a very patient tutor, who is also a lawyer in Turkey.
